A Sea Symphony

May 13, 2017 | 7:30 pm

Description:

The adventure and excitement of a sea voyage becomes an extravagant metaphor for the soul's journey into the infinite, as the music of Vaughan Williams brings Walt Whitman's transcendent poetry to glorious musical life. John Alexander conducts Pacific Chorale and Pacific Symphony in his farewell concert before retiring after 45 seasons as the Chorale's Artistic Director. The program also features American folk hymns, and Beethoven's "Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage."
